Don't know what to choose?1. Blue Light Blocking Glasses
Blue light is considered much more intense than UV rays since our eyes lack a natural biological defense to shield against it. Prolonged exposure suppresses the production of melatonin—the essential hormone that signals our body it's time to sleep. This combined overexposure and disrupted sleep cycle can contribute to digital eye strain, macular degeneration, and other chronic health issues. As a core part of the visible light spectrum, blue light is everywhere. From natural sunlight to daily digital devices, everyone is exposed to it every single day. Devices equipped with LED screens release a concentrated form of this bright blue light, making targeted protection essential for modern white-collar professionals.2. Reading Progressive Prescription Glasses
Usually, after turning 40 years old, the human eye naturally experiences presbyopia, making it difficult to focus clearly on objects at close distances. Reading glasses with progressive multifocal lenses completely resolve these vision challenges. Engineered with advanced geometric lens architecture, a single progressive lens seamlessly satisfies all visual requirements from near to far. This allows users to read, view digital screens, and drive without ever switching frames. At our Vancouver Shrum Lane atelier, the TAKEMOTO collection focuses on delivering professional progressive multifocal eyewear tailored for high-net-worth middle-class consumers. Guided by the optics expertise of Takemoto H., our custom frames utilize 100% premium natural materials, achieving a completely "zero chemistry" standard upon request.3. Photochromic Lenses (Transition Lenses)
If you are nearsighted or farsighted and do not want to carry both a regular pair of glasses and a pair of sunglasses when going outdoors, photochromic lenses are the best choice. Even if you have perfect eyesight but frequently wear sunglasses, this is definitely the way to go. These lenses contain silver halide, which darkens when exposed to ultraviolet (UV) rays to provide a sunglass effect, and immediately fades back to clear in the absence of UV light. Therefore, it is UV radiation—not visible sunlight—that triggers the tint; they will not change color inside a car. For our TAKEMOTO collection, Takemoto H. highly recommends the gray tint because gray molecules transition significantly faster than brown ones.4. Prescription Sunglasses Lenses
If you spend a lot of time outdoors, live in a region with intense sunlight, or need to block glaring light to protect your eyes while driving (since photochromic lenses do not change color inside a car), then custom prescription sunglasses are your best choice. At TAKEMOTO, the sunglasses we provide feature an anti-reflective (AR) coating applied specifically to the back surface of the lens. This drastically increases the proportion of visible light reaching your retina, maintaining true-to-life visual clarity. We offer two conventional tint choices: deep gray and deep brown (for custom specialized colors, please provide a color sample). Gray lenses will not distort color; they simply dim the ambient brightness, offering a cooler visual sensation that is ideal for most summer conditions or outdoor sketching. Brown lenses contain a yellow base, which enhances visual contrast and brightness while introducing a slight color shift. This creates a warmer visual sensation, making them more suitable for winters or regions with frequent overcast weather. Please note: The tint color of any sunglass lens functions solely to filter light waves to comfort the eyes; blocking ultraviolet (UV) rays depends entirely on the lens material itself, with premium resin (organic polymer) lenses being the absolute best option for UV protection. All premium optics are certified by Takemoto H. to ensure uncompromised precision.5. Understanding Lens Refractive Index
Due to the limited selection variables in our lens settings, the specific refractive indices are not listed individually. Therefore, we would like to explicitly clarify our policy here: Based on 20 years of custom eyewear expertise in the North American and European markets serving over 5,000 clients, we found that most prescriptions are generally mild and fall below 300 degrees (SPH -3.00). Therefore, we provide premium standard 1.56 refractive index lenses for our core collections. If your prescription is between 400 and 600 degrees (SPH -4.00 to -6.00), we may provide a complimentary upgrade to 1.61 index lenses depending on the specific frame selected. Please note: A higher refractive index is not universally better. In fact, our standard index lenses utilize authentic CR-39 resin materials, which deliver the highest optical clarity and visual crispness among all lens types due to their superior Abbe value. If you have an exceptionally high prescription that requires a 1.67 index or above, a modest custom surtax of $30 to $50 will be applied. Every prescription configuration is manually reviewed and approved by Takemoto H. to guarantee optimal thickness and visual performance for our TAKEMOTO frames.6. General Information & Store Policies- Premium Packaging Included: The listed price fully covers our signature custom wooden eyewear case and a premium microfiber cleaning cloth. Every package typically includes a handpicked artisan gift and an original postcard as a gesture of appreciation.
- Subtle Luxury Logo Policy: Since 2018, we have completely discontinued laser-engraving our logo on the outer temples of the frames to maintain an unbranded, high-end minimalist aesthetic. Official branding is exclusively reserved for the wooden case and cleaning cloth.
- Optician-Handcrafted Guarantee: Every single pair of glasses is 100% manually sculpted, and all prescription optics are precision-installed directly by our founder and certified optician, Takemoto H.
- Unique Serial Laser-Engraving: In principle, every single pair of glasses features a laser-engraved unique serial number that permanently records the exact year, month, date, and hour of its artisan birth.
- Lifetime Maintenance & Spare Parts: We offer a lifetime complimentary repair service and free replacement of all spare components (excluding lenses). Alternatively, a win-win promotional solution for a brand-new replacement frame will be provided depending on the original purchase duration.
- Bespoke Return & Replacement Policy: Because our eyewear collections involve a high degree of manual customization, each order incurs significant fixed artisan costs and cannot be resold. Therefore, we do not accept refund requests based on subjective preferences, such as "I don't like the style" or "This isn't the color I expected." Our core policy for any after-sales issue is to "remake and replace until you are 100% satisfied," thereby minimizing cash refunds. To eliminate surprises, we are fully prepared to send you high-resolution photos of the raw material's final texture and color profile for your confirmation before final production and shipment.
- Compliant Tax Policy: Any sales tax or VAT applied during checkout is not collected by us; it is automatically gathered by the platform infrastructure to be remitted directly to your local government authorities.
- Prepaid Customs & Duties: We prepay the appropriate customs duties for your shipment, ensuring you experience a seamless delivery without worrying about unexpected border clearance fees. Every premium shipment is dispatched via the secure fulfillment systems of TAKEMOTO.
